Kids say the darndest things..

I love that show BTW - but really my kid does say the darndest things! He's been really full of them lately and I feel compelled to share. So Parker was asking what I was making for dinner on Wednesday so I told him pork chops, and rice pilaf, and veggies, and pink milk (all while pulling what I needed from the fridge and pantry) and he said, "That's FANTASTIC!" Really Parker...tell us how you really feel about the pork chops! Another funny one was when we were snuggled up on the couch last night and I'm watching Law & Order and you could tell Parker was bored, not really paying attention, but glad to be in my arms, and he turns and looks at me, and he said, "Mom..., Dad sold my 'puter' to Juan" with a pretty bummed out look on his face... Ahh, poor Parker. Dad told him he could have the old computer he brought home with him last week, but he's since changed his mind, and instead decided to trade the computer to Juan for a guitar amp. I told Parker J that maybe he would get a new computer sometime soon; we'll just have to wait and see. Last but certainly not least. Mom and I took the boys to the Glendale Westgate mall for a girls day (with the boys) and we ended up at Cabelas after the mall. When we went into the aquarium area Parker was extatic about how large the fish were. At one point he was starring into the tank and he said, "This is amazing!" I laughed and said yes it is. It really was amazing, but to hear a not even 3 year old say it really puts it into perspective for you! That's all I got for now - Bye

It was a beautiful day in Flagstaff on Saturday

Mom & I drove the boys up North on Saturday for a picnic at Lake Mary! It was gorgeous weather...a little windy, but nice. The boys did really well for the drive up. We timed it for nap-time so that worked out perfectly. Picked up some KFC on the way to the lake, and had a picnic right next to upper Lake Mary. The wind was a little annoying so we really didn't stay too long; just long enough to eat our lunch & take some cute pics.
We hiked down to the picnic area since the road was closed.
Had I known it would have been chilly; I would've packed warmer clothes. Guess I should've known though; we lived there long enough. After the lake we headed over to the cemetery to see Dad. It has gotten easier as time is passing, but it's so hard to explain to Parker (and soon Braden) that Grandpa Bill is in Heaven. We ended our day walking downtown Flagstaff and visiting our favorite little shops. It's always nice to visit, but I'm glad we don't live in such a small town anymore. It's hard to believe this is our 3rd year in the Valley. Some may say 3 years too long, but I am glad we came. Stay tuned for updates on our plans to move to Colorado.

Potty training and more...

So we've decided to force the whole potty training thing on Parker last week. He's doing surprisingly well though. We told him when his pull-ups were gone, he had to wear big boy pants, and that's exactly what we did. He's worn fun underwear all week & to our surprise, he's catching on quick. Phil bought the movie Space Buddies and put it up high on the entertainment center, and told Parker that once he goes #1 & #2 in the toilet regularly; he would get the movie & could watch it whenever/wherever he wants to..... He talks about it all the time & is fully aware that he will get to watch Space Buddies in the van every time we go for a ride.... OH, Hooray for me ! The reason Phil chose Space Buddies is because we rented it a couple of weeks ago and went to return it to the Redbox (which we love BTW) ,and Parker threw a full-on FIT. He did not want to give the movie back, so Phil used it as our in. So far, so good.... I was excited to find clothe training pants in the baby section at Wal-mart & Target. They are like clothe diapers, but Pull-ups instead so we are going to save a ton on pull-ups. Parker wears those at night since they have a plastic-like exterior to prevent the leaks if you know what I mean. It's amazing how potty training is just as much for us (the parents) as it is for him. Still can't believe we are about to celebrate his 3rd birthday. My how time flies!

A week with our boys

The boys had a great week! They are really learning to play well together and it's a blast watching the two of them....so exciting to watch their relationship grow!
Our Baby Braden is already 10 months old
The Boys love going for bike rides
He loves this toy that Grandma Jones let him use while they're away! He'll be walking before we know it!

Farewell

Last night we bid farewell to Phil's parents for the next 18 months. They left for a missionary trip to Sierra Leone, Africa today & will be back in September 2010. It was hard to say good bye, but we're very excited for them and hope the best for their journey ahead! Parker was pretty sad but even after saying goodbye, he doesn't understand that they are gone for a long time. When I got home from work today, he asked if we could go to Grandma's house and I had to remind him that Grandma & Grandad left for Africa and will be away for a while. He just said, but can we go to Grandma's? ... obviously it won't be clear until the next time we go to their house, and they're not there...that's when I think he will actually understand. Good bye for now & see you soon!

And for the encore.... 3 months later

Since I have received so many requests from all our fans; I decided to publish yet another post! Today's topic? Hmm, good question..... Guess most people wanna hear about the little ones! Poor little Parker J seems to be going through a wreckless phase, and I'm hoping it doesn't last too long! On Wednesday he was playing in the garage with a little yellow truck his Grandma Robin bought for him and he took a spill. Since both his hands were pushing the truck; his face caught his little fall. He had an egg sized lump on his forehead & he had 3 thrash marks along the left side of his face. Well that brings us to Thursday when he was driving his green tractor on our hard wood floors & yep.. you guessed it. He lost his balance and landed on the same exact part of his face from the day before, except this time it opened up the cuts that were already there, and blood was flowing from his little face!! It was so sad, and now that it's scabbing up, it looks like we beat him up. So, yesterday he's playing in the back of our house and with Braden inside the Radio Flyer wagon and ran himself right into the brick wall. His hand was between the wall and the handle of the wagon and he started screaming bloody murder. His little hand was bleeding and once his hand was cleaned up we saw that he had tore off the tip of his thumb nail and all. So he was really cranky all night and when we finally got him to lay down, we quickly realized it was the thumb that he sucks to go to bed that was injured and all wrapped up in a band aid, because he kept saying yuck.. then crying and yelling about how he wants the band-aid off. We take the band-aid off and he then he starts yelling about how bad his thumb hurts and upset since he still couldn't suck it. Needless to say, he continuously woke up throughout the night crying about how his thumb hurt, and we would have to remind him to suck his other thumb.
